YM Snack Ministry

What looks like ‘just snack time’ is actually one of the most important parts of the night.

Why have a YM Food Ministry?

Our Sundays are full—many of our Middle School and High School students are coming straight from Mass or heading there right after Youth Ministry. That means one thing: hungry students. And hungry students don’t connect, focus, or engage the same way.

The Snack Ministry is a simple but powerful way to meet a real need. When students walk in and see food ready for them, it immediately creates a sense of welcome, care, and community. It gives them space to relax, talk, and settle in—so when it’s time to begin, they’re present, energized, and ready to receive.

And something else happens during this time: friendships begin. Conversations start. Students who might not otherwise connect find themselves laughing, talking, and building relationships with other Catholics their age. What looks like “just snacks” is actually the beginning of belonging—and that’s where faith starts to grow.

This isn’t just about food—it’s about creating an environment where students feel at home. It’s one of the simplest and most impactful ways to support Youth Ministry, and it makes a bigger difference than you might think.

What kind of snacks have been served in the past?

Grilled cheese sandwiches and a bag of chips

Crackers, cheese, and fruit

Nachos

Pasta with a choice of simple sauces

Pizza

Just to name a few!

We find our students love the simplest snacks most!
