Edge is the Catholic middle school youth ministry program we have chosen at St. John Vianney for students registered in grades 6-8. It provides a safe fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. Edge resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational, and spiritual maturation of middle school youth. The resources present Catholic teaching in a way that young people can understand.  We have a LOT of fun all while learning about our Catholic faith.

When do we meet?

We will meet approximately every other Sunday at 5pm.  We'll be meeting for a total of sixteen classes on the following days.  (To view our parent letter, click the date)

Why should my child attend if they are not receiving sacraments this year?

Edge Nights are created as an opportunity for your child to connect with other Catholics.  We are here because we want your child to know how much God loves them and to teach them about their Catholic faith.  Edge is an opportunity for them to learn more about Jesus, have fun opportunities to pray, and build new friendships.  The learning should continue even when a sacrament is not being received.  Edge builds an important foundation to grow upon in later years when sacraments are being received, especially Confirmation in high school. And, hey... it's fun.  They are going to love it!

Who do I contact with questions?

Joining us this year is your new Middle School Youth Minister, Amanda Wallace.  Amanda is no stranger to St. John Vianney.  Amanda's family joined SJV back in 1986.  Today she and her seven children have filled many roles at the church including altar servers, lectors, Knights of Columbus, Confirmation prep, and VBS. Most Saturdays you'll find them at our 4pm Vigil Mass.  Amanda joined our St. John Vianney staff in March of 2022.  She's passionate about teaching children and teens about the Good News and very excited about this school year.
