Welcome to High School Youth Ministry
The High School Youth Ministry at St. John Vianney is open to all high school aged youth of the parish. Our goal is to provide the youth opportunities to grow in their faith. We strive to help the youth encounter Christ and have a deeper relationship with Him. Currently, we meet on Sunday evenings from 5:45 pm to 7:00 pm (schedule below). There we seek to more fully understand our faith; what is means to be Catholic, how to get more out of mass, and how to be a Christian young adult in the world today. Outside of Sunday classes, we also provide many opportunities for the youth to be involved in the parish. These include service opportunities (listed below), as well as spiritual opportunities. We want the youth to feel that St. John Vianney parish is THEIR parish, a place where they belong.
Virtual Class this Sunday, March 29th.
Details have been sent on Flocknote with the Meeting ID. If you didn't get them, e-mail me (address at bottom) and I will get the ID to you.
We are also currently planning a spring retreat on Sunday, April 26th (details below).
High School Youth Retreat
The final spring activity for the High School Youth Ministry is a day-long retreat on Sunday, April 26th. The day will start with all youth attending the 9:00 a.m. Mass. After Mass, parents will transport their own children to the group shelter at Sweetwater Creek State Park. Other details are not finalized; ending time will be announced later.
In order to attend the retreat, all families must fill out a parental consent form. The form can be returned at the beginning of the retreat. Forms will be available soon.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School will be taking place this summer from June 7th through June 11th, from 5:45 pm to 8:30 pm each evening.
Volunteer hours for Confirmation students are available for this event.
The Youth Rally was cancelled due to health and safety concerns. Refunds will be given at Confirmation class on April 16th and at the Youth Retreat on April 26th.
In February, finished a 4-part series on "The Invitation" about the invitation from Jesus for us to be his followers. The videos are available on Formed under the Youth Programs/YDisciple tab. Below are pictures from the class on February 9th.
Sandwich making for Loving Hands Ministry
The High School youth will be made sandwiches for the homeless on Sunday, February 16th. These sandwiches were delivered the following day to a group of homeless men in Douglasville.
A big THANK YOU to all who came out and helped. We had over 15 youth who made more than 100 sandwiches. Each man at the homeless ministry received a bag with 5 or 6 sandwiches, chips, cookie, brownies, and peanut butter crackers.
