The mission of The GIFT of becoming a Catholic for Children (RCIC Rite of the Christian Initiation for Children) is to help children learn about their spiritual journey and faith while teaching them to nurture their relationship with God. From this, they will strengthen their abilities to live a life filled with Christian values that reflect in their daily lives, personally and in their daily activities in society, at home, at church, in school, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What ages participate?
RCIC is a program for children between the ages of 8 or above who have not been baptized or who are baptized in another Christian denomination. It is also for older children who are baptized in the Catholic faith but were never prepared for Reconciliation, Communion or Confirmation.
What is covered?
The program provides a comprehensive review of the essentials and key teachings of the Catholic faith.
When do they receive the sacraments?
All students who are ready will receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil on the evening of the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Those who have already been baptized either Catholic or in another Christian denomination (Candidates) enter the Catholic Church by making a profession of Faith and receiving the sacraments of The Eucharist and Confirmation. The sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) is celebrated before Easter. Unbaptized children (Catechumens) celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. During the Easter Season, they go to confession for the first time.
How do I enroll? Parents may register their children by contacting Saul Onate, Family Coordinator. Registration is complete after the appointment. If the child to be registered for RCIC is baptized, please provide a copy of the baptismal certificate.
